The party followed the stranger that asked for their help deep into the Dead Wood. Eventually they came upon a cave, the stranger took out a torch igniting it, and led the group underground.
The deeper they spelunked, the more the spiderwebs choked the pathways. Remnants of previous adventurers littered the trail down into the earth, their bones held intact from the webbing. The scurrying of spiders clicked and echo’d in the back of the parties minds.
Pressing onward the stranger led them to a chamber that opened up into a large open space, cocooned in webs and small holes could be seen in all directions with spiders crawling in and out of the holes. In the center of a room lay an ornate chest slightly webbed over.
“There’s the treasure!” The stranger shouted and ran towards it. He pulled away the webs and climbed into the chest. “Its dinner time!” He yelled and the trap was set with the sound of the chest slamming shut and being locked from inside.
An ettercap emerged from the webs flanked by spiders and the group fought for their lives. Sustaining damage from an endless wave of spiderlings eventually they were able to land a fatal blow to the beast controlling the spiders, and the rest skittered off into the depths.
“No!!!” the stranger yelled as he heard the death crys… “My beautiful daughter!” he screamed as he opened the chest and ran to the monstrosity. Jingle ran his rapier thru the back of the man as he collapsed just before reaching the monster as Fyn knelt down and began hack sawing the head off the beast.
The stranger died with his daughter, and after learning his true intentions left a reminder at the entrance of the cave to any adventurer who dare enter its depths.
